Betatronix
had been building potentiometers for 10 years before we were presented with the
challenge of manufacturing one for use in outer space. Our initial space potentiometers
were no different in design than our standard mil-spec type pots. They qualified
as "space potentiometers" after hard vacuum screening tests were performed on
them by our customer. Those that passed became "space potentiometers." Those
that failed were not reworkable and had to be replaced. The overall process resulted
in high costs and unpredictable deliveries.
As a result of our experiences with space customers, Betatronix has designed
a space potentiometer with predictable performance in hard vacuum space environments.
Our designs have been successfully used by the major satellite manufacturers
and have a proven track record.
Today, 30 years after building our first space potentiometer, Betatronix has
become the leading space potentiometer designer and manufacturer in the industry.
The materials utilized in our space potentiometers are "space qualified," all
our designs are "configuration controlled" and high-reliability screening - including
Vibration Scan, Burn-In, Temperature Cycling and X-Ray - are available. Space
potentiometers are available in "housed" units, either rotary or linear motion,
or as an element and wiper assembly where available space is limited. The space
potentiometers we manufacture are designed to meet specific customer needs; however,
our engineers are also experts in working with client designs and incorporating
our proven design techniques and hi-rel features into them.
